Several improvements have been done and are being implemented in the health system of Ethiopia. Nonetheless looking at the contrast between the health system in Ethiopia and elsewhere makes us think that there is something that has gone completely wide of the mark. Anyone with a sense of human touch can sense and see how much Ethiopia’s health system is insufficient. There are organizations, doctors, and even individuals who are doing their best to sustain and improve the health system throughout Ethiopia but there is still a wide gap to see and maintain a health system that meets the needs of the people in today’s high-tech era. HBL plc. is here to maintain the good work that has been done in the past and is being done today. HBL plc. is also here to be a reformer by leading and setting an example. HBL plc. is here to be a transformer of change; assess and address the core issues of health care in clinics, health centers, hospitals, and ultimately in Ethiopia.
1. Excel in what we have on hand
As we excel in our area of expertise we will also work relentlessly to manufacture certain hospital equipment that is within our ability. What are we good at and what can we contribute to the health system that will be of benefit? One of the goals of HBL is to not only be a distributor of goods but also to strive and become a manufacturer of quality standard goods that are needed in the health system throughout Ethiopia.
It is supposed that there are about 200 hospitals, and 700 health centers that are owned by the government while there are more than 100 private clinics and 50 private hospitals; all of these will be needing hospitals and medical trolleys of different kinds. HBL plc. can manufacture high-standard hospital trolleys and distribute them throughout Ethiopia. Currently, we are taking orders for various kinds of trolleys. Our first trolleys have been presented to Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia.
2. Communication system within the Hospital.
One of the critical elements in a hospital is communication. In an environment where accuracy and swift action are of the essence, communication plays a big role in saving lives. Whether it is in the operating theater, by the patient bed, at the reception area, in the corridors or stairs, at the nurse desk, in the bathroom, at the guard station and car parking area; a hospital that is intentional to save lives must have an integrated communication system. Communication among the doctors and nurses as well as a request for help from the patient by the hospital bed and his or her family members must be made quickly and clearly. HBL plc. supplies, installs, and maintains a communication system that is reliable and easy to use.
