Mr. Gobena Merga

Born and raised in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, Mr. Gobena Merga left for the United States of America to continue his high school education followed by higher education at Middlesex Country College and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET). While going to school Mr. Merga worked as security guard, gas station attendant and a food storekeeper. He had always wanted to go back to Ethiopia after graduation, but his plans changed when he met his wife and became a father. Throughout his student life and now as an adult and father of three he has maintained a strong faith in God. Mr. Merga continued his career as a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout designer. He worked for various big and small startup companies in New Jersey. The work environment and the highly skilled co-workers he was privilege to work with provided him plenty of experience not only in his technical skills but in management business and personal skills and collaboration with others. In 2008 Mr. Gobena Merga started to support his father Mr. Merga Serbessa who was the founder and general manager of KAM Trading PLC (Hospital Equipment importer and distributor throughout Ethiopia). While living in the United States, Mr. Gobena Merga started to serve his father’s company by dedicating his time and using his know-how and technical and business management skills while working full time in the US. He had to balance his family, work and social life to make time for this effort and as a Technical Advisor / Sales and Marketing Manager for his father’s business in Ethiopia. Using the available technology (email, skype, viber and regular phone line) he was able to communicate with the staff in Ethiopia. and with the manufactures –Shimadzu Medical, Nihon Kohden, Dr. Mach, Hitachi Medical, ACOMA and IPSO Alliance very effectively. Mr. Merga traveled to Japan, Dubai South Korea and made several trip back to Addis Abeba, Ethiopia since he started service at KAM Trading. Mr. Gobena Merga is committed to serve his country and help in technological advances to his home country in various areas. Currently he is based in the United States working as a consultant as PCB layout designer and dedicated his time and made a commitment to work as Technical Adviser & International Relation officer at HBL plc. Mr. Gobena is also one of the shareholders of HBL plc.
