Born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Eng. Epheram Demelash moved to Gothenburg, Sweden in September of 1987 to complete his high school education and continue for further education. Eng. Demelash received his high school certificate in Technique of Building (HC) followed by a high school diploma in building and civil engineering (HD) from 1991-1994. By this time Eng. Demelash was determined to pursue his education in civil engineering. As a result he got admitted to Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden from 1995-1997 and received: a University Certificate in Infrastructure (UC), a University Diploma in Civil Engineering (UD), BA. of Science in Civil Engineering (UD). Further to this Eng. Demelash pursued his education recently (2012 -2014) to receive his master’s in international project management in civil engineering – MSc from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden and also MSc from Northumbria University in UK in project management. The main motive behind this effort is to apply his knowledge and experience in the continent of Africa (starting in East Africa, Ethiopia). It was 1997 Eng. Demelash entered the workforce by joining one of the well-known companies, SF Marina System AB, which delivers the best floating concrete pontoon marina system worldwide. Eng. Demelash worked as an assistant production manager. Then in 2002 Eng. Demelash continued to excel in his experience and joined a well-known civil engineering construction and petroleum industry supply company known as Reinertsen Sverige AB. There he continued to grow from company support team, Auto CAD group leader, safety officer, and then Project manager. In addition to his regular job in Sweden, Eng. Demelash had always the desire to give back and serve his country and fellow country men and women. So from 1997 up to 2000 he oversaw and directed a project that was strictly to help visually impaired people in Ethiopia. At that time, he was able to launch Operation Mission for Visually Impaired in Ethiopia (OMVIE), an none for profit organization founded in 1993 in Gothenburg, Sweden. In three years, the project was underway starting from securing the land for constructing the workshop up to functional operation. From 2005 up to 2007 – Eng. Demelash went back to his home country Ethiopia to structure and reorganize a privately owned company that was engaged in the printing press. The company has close to 300 employees. Eng. Epheram had the responsibility of a CEO to carry out responsibilities such as organizational change management. In 2014 Eng. Demelash received CMB’s annual award in Sweden for the best paper published by the title: Project Management Office PMO – the Relevance for Project Based Organization.
